Instagram Photo Wall Display

A few weeks back we showed you the best way to print Instagram photos in lost of different sizes and paper finishes. Sometimes I get doubles of certain prints because I never know where I'll want to use them, and the other day I got the idea to put some of those extras up on our makeshift clothesline photo display wall upstairs in our entryway.

This past Fall we put a call out for reader to send Holiday cards so we could get to know all of you a little better, and were completely flabbergasted at the outpouring of love, kindness and inspiration that came with each one.

Since we didn't really talk much about how we made our photo wall display back then, we thought we'd cover in more detail, how we rigged this card and picture hanger up!

Photo Display Ideas + Tips and Tricks

We've been getting a LOT of questions lately about personal photo display ideas in our inbox. Maybe it's just a coincidence, or maybe we just have a bunch of readers who are starting in on decorating for Spring with all those new family pictures that got taken the past few months... either way, if you know me, then you know I LOVE decorating with personal photos.

Framed art is great, don't get me wrong, but there's just something special and fun about seeing beautiful, happy pictures of the people you love all around your home. One of the biggest questions that we get asked though, is:
"How should I gather, group or display my photos so they look really good?"

That's a great question, and something that isn't as hard as it seems. Below are a few awesome ways to show off your lovely family photos, with ideas on how to achieve aesthetically pleasing layouts at the same time, whether you have a large or small space.

This look, to me, is timeless. I love the evenly spaced frames, clean lines and drama that a symmetrical gallery wall gives off. I especially dig the floor to ceiling aspect as well. If you've got a large, empty wall to fill, this sort of photo display can definitely give your unoccupied space a ton of visual interest.
1 & 2
Planning a gallery wall, completely symmetrical or not, is probably the most time consuming type of photo display, only because you have to do a lot of measuring and planning to get it just right.
One of the best tips that I can give here, is to make paper templates of your frames first. As you can see below (in this not-so-great photo, sorry!) we used this method when we planned out our large gallery wall for our living room. This technique will make it effortless when it's time to work and rework things as you plan out your photo display. A Piece of paper is MUCH easier to move around than a heavy, glass-filled frame.

Merry Christmas + Holiday Joy from Friends Near and Far

I just wanted to pop in and say Merry Christmas!
This year we are EXTRA happy and grateful, and it's all because of YOU! Our friends Near and Far!
Everyday we wonder who's out there reading. What YOU look like. Where YOU live. What YOU do.
Now we know a little bit more!

We laughed...

We cried (out of joy)
Thank you to those who sent sweet little notes and gifts
and
We learned, about YOU and YOUR families!

Gallery Wall Decorating Tips + Photo Gallery Decorating

This post was originally done for a guest series over Beth's blog,
but I thought I'd share it here as well, for any readers who missed out, the first time around :)

Today we're talkin' about:
A little while back Cason and I finished a large family photo gallery wall in our living room, and we couldn't be happier with the results!

I have to be honest.  I had seen lots of variations of Gallery Walls before, and never thought twice about their actual assembly, until WE had to put one together!  These bad boys are NO easy task.  If you think you can dive in head first, without thinking about placement, colors, and frame sizes... then you might be in for a bit of a surprise.

Remembering a few key things, will definitely help alleviate any "gallery wall stress" that may come your way, when you're contemplating using this awesome style of decorating in YOUR home...

Spray Painted Initial: Gallery Photo Wall

{Sprayed Initial}
I've had a few questions about where I got my "S" initial, that's on my Gallery Photo Wall.
I actually purchased it from Hobby Lobby, for about $5 bucks.

Large Address Subway Art for Gallery Photo Wall

Hey all!  I'm finally posting my address subway art project, from my Gallery Wall!
If you remember... things got off to a rocky start. lol
Sometimes that happens with projects... right!?
I think in this case, it was a blessing in disguise... because I LOVE the way this over sized subway art turned out, on just this simple piece of plywood!
Go figure!

Alright... so here's how it all went down...

Gallery Photo Wall

Yay!  It's finally done!  Our living rooms,  Family Picture Gallery Wall!
Complete with lots of bold family pictures, spray pained initial, vinyl frames, and some trendy subway art, with a mish-mash of all of the places we've lived.

Take a look at how we turned these regular white IKEA frames,
into...basically, a "home decor scrapbook page", on steroids.
ha! :)

Party of 5 frames

{TAKE 2}

Okay, okay... The Fish is gone! ha!
I got SO many emails and comments, telling me that the last number 5 that I used for this project, looked like a fish!?!? LOL.  I didn't really see it, but I still didn't love it for that exact number, so I switched things up a bit, to a simpler, classier number 5.  I used Modern No. 20 font, for this style 5.  And I am really liking it :)

Vinyl Decals on Glass in Frames, Photo Wall

Before I left for Creative Estates this last week, I decided to put some finishing touches on a few small frames that we are using in our family room photo wall collage.
I know it's taking FOREVER to reveal, but I have ONE more project after this to finish, and then the photo wall will be complete! :)

All I did was take these three small IKEA frames and back them with paper that coordinated with my photo wall.

Photo Wall Collage with IKEA Picture Frames

Remember when I showed you before how I "sketch" most of my home decorating plans out, before they actually come to life?  Well, I wasn't kidding. lol.

My sketch above got ruined by a black pen and a 3 year old, apparently ...
...but you get the idea.
