Yay! It's finally done! Our living rooms, Family Picture Gallery Wall!
Complete with lots of bold family pictures, spray pained initial, vinyl frames, and some trendy subway art, with a mish-mash of all of the places we've lived.
Take a look at how we turned these regular white IKEA frames,
into...basically, a "home decor scrapbook page", on steroids.
ha! :)
I can't even express how happy this photo wall makes me.
The way the picture frames fill up the wall perfectly, the cheery colors, the little adorable people in the photos...
I didn't think I could love this bright, happy room any more then I already did...
...I was wrong.
:)
There is just something about the way displaying pictures of happy moments with your family, makes you feel.
To me, this is what decorating is all about:
Getting personal...and finding ways to surround yourself with beautiful things and memories that you want your family to remember and cherish forever.

ReplyDeleteI rarely comment on other people's posts because, to be honest, I'm a huge perfectionist. I truly subscribe to the only-compliment/comment-if-you-really-mean-it-and-not-just-to-say-something-nice.
ReplyDeleteAnyway-- enough of that tangent. My point, ahem, is that I really, really love this wall and room... and I'm not just saying that.

ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely gorgeous. SUCH a wonderful way to showcase family pictures.
ReplyDeleteI know, I'm terrible...I have an Ikea about 30 min away from me and NEVER go in there...BUT, after seeing this, I am thinking I have a cute spot just for this kinda project!
ReplyDeleteHey Shelly,
ReplyDeleteSo I picked up some IKEA frames, brought them home and to my dismay, the sizes of the photos I need to fill them are soooooo stupid. Hello!!! why is it 19 1/4 by 27 1/4?? Could you tell me how you got past the dumb sizes. Where you printed your photos and what not?
Thank you for your inspiration! I write to you to let you know that I mentioned your photo in my article about Photography Wall Art at home (http://www.kozerskaya.ru/фотографии-в-интерьере-места-размеще/ - sorry, only in Russian :)
ReplyDeleteI love, love, LOVE your photo wall and it's almost exactly what I've been looking for because I was told to use uniform frames since I'm mixing black and white photos with colored photos of our family. I know you said you got the frames at IKEA, but did their frame sizes match up with the photo sizes? Or did you have to enlarge some photos and cut off edges to fit the frames? Just wondering if I need to buy the photos or frames first:) I know you're prob super busy, but I'd love to know what you did. My email is Jessica.driggs.nelson@gmail.com Thanks.
