Vinyl Decals on Glass in Frames, Photo Wall

Before I left for Creative Estates this last week, I decided to put some finishing touches on a few small frames that we are using in our family room photo wall collage.
I know it's taking FOREVER to reveal, but I have ONE more project after this to finish, and then the photo wall will be complete! :)

All I did was take these three small IKEA frames and back them with paper that coordinated with my photo wall.

A School Project using the Silhouette

{My First School Project}

A few weeks back the twins's teacher sent me home with two blank white pieces of cardboard.  I was told to have the girls help me put together a board that told ALL about them.  Well... the girls helped for about 3 minutes, lost interest, and I was left to finish things up, ha!
Is this a reflection of how things will go in the future with science fair projects??? eeek!

I have about EVERY tool, paper, and embellishment, to be a great scrapbooker... but alas... I am not.
Theres just something so intimidating about all those "cute" little pieces, that makes me crazy.  I never know what to choose, or how to pair things up right, so that my paper pages look finished, but not OVERLY "scrapped"!

So for these little collages, I decided to use my Silhouette Machine to cut out some simple small vinyl decals, and paired them with a bunch of my favorite pictures of each of the twins, that I just printed at Walmart for a few bucks.

Fabric Spring Art + March Silhouette Deal: Fabric Interfacing

I'm so glad that you all are loving the monthly silhouette deals and new products.  Last month I featured Silhouettes frosted vinyl, on a decal I created, and I've even gotten emails with some of your fun projects, that you've made with yours!
You guys are such a creative bunch!

Well, this promotion is no exception!
I'm sure you've all heard about the exciting new feature that Silhouette is able to do.
CUT MATERIAL!
Ohhh... the possibilities!

I thought I would try the technique out for myself, to create a simple little "Spring" plaque, for our home.
I found some good tips and tricks on the Silhouette Blog, on how to iron on the fabric interfacing, to prep my fabric, and such Here and Here.

For my project, I started by cutting a piece of thick cream fabric out to fit the size of my frame.
Then I chose a cute little bird design from the Silhouette library.
(they have TONS of designs!)
and picked a "springy" fabric to cut that out with.

Then... pretty much, just to see HOW detailed this Silhouette could go, I used an intricate "Spring" font, and cut it out in dark grey fabric.
I was really surprised, it cut it SO well, and didn't catch, or fray the fabric up at all!
I used a speed of 3, and a thickness of between 30 - 33.

Then I laid out the design how I wanted it to appear in my frame.
