My little hip-hop girlies. They did SO good! We had a little meltdown over the fact that there would be "too many people" there, watching Jocelynn's freestyle that she was so scared about... but when it came down to actually dancing on stage, there wasn't a hint of fear in either of them :)
Cason recorded their dance on our good video camera. I was trying to get their dance on my little camera, but after I recorded Aubrielle's dance, it died... ugh!
We just do a local community dance class, (it's really cheap) nothing competitive at all, in fact the kids don't even have to do the recital, if they don't want to...but the teacher told all the parents at the beginning that she really recommends that the kids preform, to help boost their self confidence. At first I didn't really think much about it, but now... after they have danced on a big stage with lots of people, and I've seen them go from scared to asking
"When can we do that again???"... I'm sold :)
Oh... my sweet, crazy, happy, carefree Aubrielle.
Here's my self-help story of Aubrielle's performance...
It's titled :
When you're the Mom of "THAT" kid, during the dance recital...
If you ever find yourself grinning with pride, though, at the same time biting your nails, as your VERY rambunctious, unpredictable child walks onto a large stage to "preform a dance" for the first time... my advice to you is;
KEEP CALM and SMILE ON...
Oh!... and also keep recording the dance, no matter what.
Because once they're up there, with about 200 people watching them... there's not a whole heck-of-a-lot you CAN do, besides watch your headstrong, wild-child, rock that stage.

:)
I'm sure you'll figure it out, but she's the one in the font, with the big purple flower, dancing to the beat of her own drum, running around, and "exploring" the stage... with a bit of dance peppered in. ha!
This all just means that she's a confident, free spirit... right?... right?

I guess it could have been worse. I could have been the Mom of the kid who pushed the other kid down towards the end of the dance number... hee hee
...just watch. lol

ReplyDeletethat was by far the cutest dance! She looked like she was having a great time!
ReplyDeleteI have taught dance for 17 years now and in every recital we have the following 4 dancers: 1.The SHY kid that stands away from the group w/ finger in mouth 2. The BOSS this is the kid that tells everyone else where they should stand (usually pushing and shoving is involved 3. The SINGER this kid will not do much of their dance but they will sing it at the top of their lungs 4. The SPINNER (Your little Cutie) this is the child that will start off by doing lots of spins and then breaks out into their own dance. All that being said, it is the Spinner who usually ends up becoming our best dancers over the years w/ their spunk and No Fear attitude ;) So hold your head up high because your daughter was one of the best ones!! :)ps if it makes you feel better my youngest daughter was The Boss this year, not a good sign ;)
ReplyDeleteThat is great! Ha! Kids are too funny!
ReplyDeleteOh man, laughing my head off right now. That kid. I'm so sad we missed it. I bet the boosts their self confidence! So cute.

She is TOO cute, and growing way too fast!! :( Love the pics w/ you and your girlies, so, so cute!! Love your hair too, you look beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great laugh for my morning! Oh I see many more of these in your future! She was a doll and quite the dancer. The funny thing about the little one that was pushed, they all looked at her and kept on going, so funny! Your girls are just beautiful! Perhaps they get the love of dance from watching you and Cason. ;)
ReplyDeleteOkay, she is so stinking cute! And you are right...at least she wasn't the pusher! ;D
ReplyDeleteWhat a great video!
ReplyDeleteBeing a dancer also I must agree with dancersRsmart. My fearless students always became some of my best. They end up being the hard workers who have a love for dance. This was definitely a priceless video and when she is older and a great dancer you must show this for great laughs.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE IT!!! My Alie is like that, she is the twirler of the bunch!!! I especially love the nonchalant dance-move/wedgie pick!! I LOVE the pics! Your girls are so gorgeous, Shelley!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing! what a great video. Your little one is definitely NOT shy!
ReplyDeleteI love how she is such a "free spirit" ... wonder where she gets THAT from? :)

Cute. And i love all your pics. Anyway you could do a tutorial on how you do your photo collages??? I love them.
ReplyDeleteOne day she'll be a world famous choreographer! So cute!
ReplyDeleteThat was just too cute. Dancing to the beat of your own drum is something to be treasured in this busy world. What a complete doll. I had tears remembering when my 'princess' was little like that.
ReplyDeleteOh my ... you've gotta luv recitals. My daughter danced for 6 years before moving on to cheer in high school. We have some 'great' footage ... the better to mortify her with. LOL Its the unexpected that makes these little performances great. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteToo cute! Love your blog! I would also love a to know how you do the photo collages....they are fantastic:)
ReplyDeleteYour girls are seriously superstars! I can't get over how gorgeous they are...better watch out when they get older and the boys start calling! :)
ReplyDeleteShe is the most beautiful and FUNNIEST thing ever! If only we all had that confidence :)
