Using Mirrors to Create More Light and Fill Spaces

We all know that I'm obsessed with natural light... right.
Well, besides windows, what's the best way to reflect light???

If you said Mirrors... you're RIGHT!
We have a big framed one in our entry way...

and another, beveled version not too far away, hanging over our stairs

I might be wrong, cause "I aint' no professional decorator"... :)
but I feel like having multiple mirrors in a smaller space is okay!... as long as they all have a purpose, and are different enough, to almost serve as a piece of art, instead of just "another mirror on the wall."

The other night while I was out shopping with Jen at IKEA, we spotted this lovely curvy lady.

I knew that she had to come home with me PRONTO!
I wasn't totally sure where I was going to put her, but it didn't matter.
She had it goin' on.
:)

After a little debating...
We decided that this bare spot, between our kitchen nook and living room would be perfect.

So Cason got to work installing the clips.
And about 5 minutes later...

Empty space, no more!

Again, I love how this mirror serves as more of a work of art, then just "a mirror"

To Cason's dismay, I want to add a tiny half table below this mirror.
(he thinks it will look silly and be in the way... so I'm determined to prove him wrong, ha!)
What's a half table?  Well... it's basically just a small side table, that is chopped in half, and mounted against the wall, and left with only two legs as it's support.
Kinda like this...

I think it could be cute if painted with a small stripe!

Click on images to be directed to original posts, for each of these cute pieces.

I've been keeping my eye out for a small side table that looks similar to this one from Pottery Barn.
Charlotte Bedside Table
Except, I want mine to be about $180 cheaper :)
And from a thrift store, so I can paint it a pretty white, and stripe it with some yellow.
eek!
It makes me happy, just thinking about it!

Another thing I picked up at IKEA, during the same trip, that I have BIG plans for:

This large flat woven rug, with a skid free backing.

I'm almost done with it, and can't WAIT to show you what "magic" I'm working...
turning this regular ol' rug, into a show stopper :)

  15. I saw a mirror like that in the Ballard catalog that I wanted so bad. Now I need to make a trip to IKEA pay about $150 less. Awesome!! If only my closest IKEA wasn't in Atlanta 4 hours away. :( Your mirror looks fantastic and I totally think you need a little half table!

  34. I love that mirror! I've been searching for one to hang in my hallway by my stairs. I need one that is horizontal but that bad boy would look great either way! FYI I've seen some little tables at Tai Pan that are pretty cute. Not sure on their price but they've got to be cheaper than pottery barn!

  41. Hi! I know this post is pretty old, but I have a question... :) What kind of clips did you use that don't show after the mirror is hung? We have a big mirror in our bedroom, and I really don't like the clips we're using for it. Thanks!
