Jeesh, this weekend totally got away from me! I was busy partyin' it up at the Breathing Space Retreat, and I'll be honest, sitting behind a computer was pretty much the LAST thing on my mind :)

Our HGTV Clean Freaks Shoot & March Photo-a-day Party Announcement

So, as promised, I said I'd share a little bit more about our HGTV shoot that I mentioned at the end of our last post. First, I have to say that it's got to be the HARDEST thing in the WORLD to be able to do something really exciting, and then have to keep it a secret. ha! Short of a few family members, close friends and 2 readers who put the puzzle pieces together after seeing Sabrina's updated twitter profile pic that she posted (a quick shot I took of her relaxing on our couch)... I wasn't suppose to say anything!

PS. I'm STILL crazy impressed that Lauren and Tina recognized that it was OUR couch from that photo. ha!

So here's the story. Last June I was contacted by a production agency who was looking to cast a few self proclaimed "super organizers" in an upcoming HGTV special called "Clean Freaks". I have to be honest and say that I was a bit hesitant at first, because even though I LOVE a clean, organized house... I'm not necessarily a "freak" about it. But after a couple of emails back and forth the producer had decided that our homes story and easy DIY tips would definitely fit the bill. So at the end of July, before we knew it, we were booked for the show and now COMPLETELY freaking out about getting our house as clean and organized as humanly possible. lol.

Around the last part of July we hosted a slew of camera men, lights, people and of course ... cute little Sabrina Soto in our home. I've done a few TV things with our local morning show and news spots in the past, but this type of national tv production was SO much different. Everything moves really fast, you have to shoot things multiple times (even if it feels totally awkward) and setting up for shots from room to room takes a lot more time and strategy... 

I LOVED it. ha!

Who's ready to party!?

Oh good!... I am MORE then ready to have some fun flipping through lots of your monthly roundup photos and thoughts, especially because this weekend has been SO crazy! We have had some super sick little kiddos, and then at the last minute decided to hop right into a big new DIY project... My Office!

Yes, we're crazy... and No, our master bathroom STILL isn't done. Gah!

I know, I know! It's really just too hard to focus on ONE project, when you have about a TRILLION other creative ideas floating around in your head! (please someone agree with me).

If you are totally confused about how we operate here at The House of Smiths, then I'll make it simple for you:

Any project that seems cooler, funner or more exciting at the time, will ALWAYS come before anything else... even if that means abandoning one thing, to work on another.

Creative ADD... It's a real thing, people.

Photo-a-day Linky Party - January

Finding out about the January photo-a-day challenge from Fat Mum Slim was so exciting for me in 2012 because I have a goal this year to document EVERY DAY in a photo. At first it sounded completely overwhelming, but with the power of Instagram, Picframe and the My365 apps, the photo-a-day challenge has really been enjoyable, fun and easy!

It wasn't until about a week ago when I got my first set of January photo-a-day StickyGram Magnets I ordered, that I realized how MUCH I really loved having these simple, everyday memories to look back on!

Yes! It's true, I'm actually going to be hosting my very FIRST linky party, here at The House of Smiths. shocking! :)

Honestly, I haven't really felt passionate enough about something to learn the 'linky party ropes' (or pay for it) until I started this monthly photo-a-day challenge with Fat Mum Slim. Here were the January photo-a-day topics from Chantelle's site in case you missed them or want to play catch-up. I got such amazing feedback from all of you about how much this photo-a-day challenge really helped you to capture those special moments in life everyday, and so I thought, what better time then NOW to spread my wings and try my hand at all of the linky party fun!
