Things are FINALLY starting to settle down around our house, and we've been Oooing and Ahhing over all of your beautiful, amazing Christmas cards!!! Tomorrow we're opening the other set that we picked up from the PO box and we're going to start in on our little DIY project that we've planned, to mount all of these lovely pictures of you gorgeous people to our living room wall!
Thank you SO MUCH to all of you who have shared a little bit of YOU, with US! We've read each family letter and looked at all of the fun, happy photos. We feel truly blessed to have such amazing blog readers and friends, near and far.
Every card that we've received that has a return address on it is getting carefully entered into a big ol' spread sheet, so that we can make sure to include you on OUR mailing list, to send you something special back! It probably won't be Christmas themed, or make it before the years out but don't worry, it WILL make it.
:)
Okay, now moving on to our Christmas decor!
As I mentioned before, we wanted to stick to a Woodsy Winter Wonderland theme this time around and I think our mission was accomplished!
Green slip-covered chairs - Joss & Main, Snowflake & Feather pillows - Target
Birch garland, Frosted pine cone garland and Chalkboard ornaments - The Black Goose Design, All other ornaments and metallic bows - Tai Pan Trading
We bought the frosted pine cone and birch tree garland, along with those super cute rectangle shaped chalkboard ornaments from The Black Goose Design, to hang on our tree. The chalkboards came blank, and I was stumped as to what to put on them and then decided to do the 12 days of Christmas on each one! I'm no artist, so Emily, the same cute designer who did our amazing sketch for our kitchen, helped me come up with these fun ideas!
My favorite has to be the 4 "calling" birds.
:)
Lamp & Shade - Target, Silver pine cone - Black Goose Design, White frame & Gray quatrefoil vase - Down to Earth, Silver frame, Owl & Holiday garnish in bowl - Zgallerie
Joy letters - Joss & Main, White lacquer frame - Zgallerie, White resin jars - Lowe's
Once we started pulling things out from past Christmases, we realized that we also wanted to incorporate lots of golds and silvers into our displays too. I wasn't quite sure how it was all going to come together with our masculine touches of wood grains and warm tones, but it all works wonderfully!
Reindeer - HomeGoods, Chalk print - Caravan Shoppe
All of our marvelous chalkboard printables around the house were purchased from The Caravan Shoppe.
My cute friend Melanie and her partner in crime Alma have created these AMAZINGLY affordable downloadable prints that totally knock my socks off! You just purchase the print of your choice on the Caravan Shoppe site, and then get it printed at any local print shop, or somewhere like Staples. Everything's only a few bucks and there's no need to wait for shipping because you print it all out yourself! And as if the prints weren't affordable enough, Melanie also gave me the code "houseofsmiths20" (all lowercase) for everyone to get an additional 20% off your order!
yeah, she's way too nice. ha!
Pillows - The Black Goose Design, White lamps - Joss & Main, Gray fur throw - Target
As you know, we're BEYOND thrilled to finally have our brand new kitchen table and we weren't going to pass up the chance to deck it all out with a fun Christmas tablescape!
Kitchen table & White X-back chairs - The Black Goose Design, Metallic pine cone wreath - Tai Pan, White striped burlap ribbon - Hobby Lobby, Rug - RugsUSA
We took the liberty of painting our own dinner glasses with an elegant gold rim, and even made our napkin rings out of pieces of pipe from the hardware store!
More on that Wednesday
:)
White plates - Joss & Main, Tan plates & Candels - Target, Angels - Down to Earth, Chalkboard place cards - The Black Goose Design
Of course we added some decor to our infamous kitchen shelves as well.
Nothing too fussy, just some pretty woodsy winter wonderland items to bring the whole look together from the living room to the kitchen area.
Wreath, Candles & Glass jars - Target, Silver pine cone - The Black Goose Design, Silver deer - HomeGoods, Tree & Greenery - Tai Pan, Christmas plaque - The House of Smiths Designs
It absolutely blows my mind to think how far this kitchen nook space has actually come!
The last part of our home that we decked out in Christmas decor was our entryway. We took down our big black mirror and added these 4 decorative mirrors in it's place, along with a silvery-gold stick wreath. We kept the entryway table decor simple and added a couple pops of red with pillows to amp up the Christmas vibe.
Mirros - Joss & Main, Decorative Plates - Target, Glittery metallic vase filler - Down to Earth, Winter wonderland sign - The House of Smiths Designs, Wreath - HomeGoods, Small Owl - Zgallerie, Chalkart - Caravan Shoppe
We've been enjoying our wintery woodsy Christmas decor for a few weeks now, and I have to be honest, I'm going to be really sad when it all has to get packed back up. There's just something about decorating for the holidays that makes our home seem even happier and cozier than before.
Now we just have to focus on rounding up those few last-minute gifts for Christmas, get all of our wrapping done and we'll be set!
Here's to a stress-free, safe and happy holiday!!!

ReplyDeleteYou are a decorating genius. I sooo feel like re-doing my tree now. I tried to add a ribbon garland this year, but rather than like how it turned out I stare at it with spite every day. Love the way yours is done with two different kinds of garlands! My husband is going to think I'm nuts when the tree gets torn apart tomorrow.....
ReplyDeleteHolly Jones :o)

ReplyDeleteWhat kind of wood is your dining room table made out of??? It almost looks like a distressed whitewash finish?? I like it alot! My husband builds most our furniture...and he looking at zebrawood $$$$$ for a table top, wonder if yours is a cheaper alternative.

They are $5 for $50 I belive and they are chipboard cardboard color and white and silver. So if you are looking for tags they would match perfectly. I was there yesterday and thought of you when I saw them. :-)
