Holy bananas guys, these past two weeks have been C.R.A.Z.Y!
Even though we usually have a schedule of posts/topics/projects that we like to stick to, so we can stay on track, I just had to jump in here this week to give ya a rundown of what's going on in our neck of the woods.
1. Being sick is the PITS!
A little over a week ago Cason and I got sick. At first we thought it was just a cold or sinus infection, but within 24 hours it turned into full fledged strep. Arrrg! And not just ANY strep (because I've had strep before) but this crazy, gnarly, make you feel like garbage, find yourself wishing you could just go through the pain of birthing another child, because this is WORSE... kinda strep.
I know I'm dramatic, but seriously, it's taken us about 9 days, TONS of rest and lots of antibiotics and ibuprofen to feel remotely like ourselves again. I wouldn't wish the kind of strep we had, on my WORST enemy.
2. Plankity-plankin'
We've been working on our kitchen nook area these past few weeks and we are almost done with the planking wall treatment that we've been wanting to implement for about a year now. It's lookin' SO GOOD! I initially got the final idea of how we wanted to tackle this project from my cute friend Sausha at Sweet Pickin's who paints all my furniture for me (and does a freakin' awesome job). She did the same treatment in her kitchen and entryway.
I'll be sharing a few things we learned along the way, during our plankin' journey, but for a basic know-how you can visit her wall planking post.

The actual kitchen itself is still in progress because once we paid for new granite and a backsplash, we had pretty much maxed out the money we'd saved... and we don't want to go into debt to finish our kitchen re-style. We decided to pay a little more for the pro's to do most of the work because 1.) We really didn't want to be in the midst of a kitchen remodel for 6 months (which is how long it would have taken us to install a backsplash I'm sure, ha!) and 2.) We wanted to make sure that everything was done PERFECTLY, because our kitchen is literally the first thing you see when you walk into our home.
3. Funny & Fabulous at Five
Okay, who said my baby could turn 5?
:(
Okay, who said my baby could turn 5?
:(
Today is Aubrielle's 5th birthday; I swear she just turned 4.
Four has been quite the year. It's crazy how much personality this little chick has come into. She's an expert color-er and rocks out quite frequently on the "ki-tard"
:)
She's still completely smitten by her little boyfriend Samuel, and talks frequently about where and how her and Sam are going to get married and live, when they get bigger.
More often than not during family prayer, she prays that Sam will always be her boyfriend forever... and from what I hear from Sam's Mom, his prayers sound quite similar.
:)
This little kiddo will try ANYTHING once. Her favorite foods are salad and strawberries, and her least favorite foods are pizza and spaghetti. Go figure. ha!
This past year Aubrielle has become obsessed with anything fashion related. She's extremely opinionated about what she wears and HATES baggy, unfitted clothing. Shoes are by far her most favorite part of getting dressed and on our most recent trip to a large new shoe store, she gasped out loud, covered her mouth and almost in tears said... "Mom! there are just SO MANY! Which ones should we pick!?"
haha!
Four has also been filled with LOTS of tears, drama and sass. We're still learning our limits, figuring out how to express our feelings, through big words like "flusterated and misappointed" (aka: frustrated and disappointed) and finding out that a lot of the time we can't "get what we want" no matter how many tears we shed.
That being said, 99% of the time, our little Miss has the sunniest disposition that you ever did see. She's the most loving and friendly little girl and is all smiles and hugs; not to mention that she is SO funny! Aubrielle is the bright spot in my day, and constantly reminds me to stop taking life so seriously and to laugh more.
She's a little ball of busy, happy energy and no matter how big she gets... she'll always be my baby.
Happy, Happy Birthday sweet girl. I can't wait for the adventures that 5 brings.
Love,
Mommy and Daddy
* Glad you guys are feeling better.
ReplyDelete* Can't wait to see your finished kitchen.
* Happy 5th Birthday Aubrielle ~ you are absolutely adorable!!

ReplyDeleteOh my too cute! I have to ask, where did you get her shirt and leggins? My 4 year old NEEDS these:)
ReplyDeleteI actually got the outfit at Gardner Village! The shop is called Spoiled Rotten :)

THANK YOU! I am in Maine but will be calling them to see if they will ship:)
DeleteHappy Birthday to your precious one and hope you are all feeling better. My youngest (4 years) just finished her 3rd round of antibiotics for strep. It is awful!
Five is delightful. School starts at age 5 because they can follow directions and they love to please other adults (but maybe not you).
ReplyDeleteSix is four with experience but they are in school all day and you can deal with the emotional swings more easily.
Enjoy the people your girls are becoming.

ReplyDeleteI had to laugh when I was reading this...my 5-year-old daughter HATES pizza and "pasketti", and listed cilantro and strawberries as her favorite foods on an "About Me" poster at school.
