Traditions and We Love Citrus Mason Jar Lid Giveaway

First of all, a big huge THANK YOU for everyone's sweet comments on Aubrielle's 4th birthday party! It was so fun to hear all of the great plans that lots of YOU have for your kids's birthdays coming up too, and even see pictures of your awesome themed parties :)

I have to admit, I have ONE more thing to share before I let all this party business die down. Something that I wasn't necessarily going to post originally but thought twice about, once I realized how many comments I got from Mom's out there saying that they never have enough time to do 'fun' birthday things for their kids. As much as I enjoyed throwing together Aubrielle's crazy over-the-top birthday party... that is definitely NOT the normal protocol for around here. So I wanted to share a couple of simple and small things that we love to do as a family, that make birthdays important around here... and that have a lot less "flash", if you will.

First... Breakfast in bed.

ALWAYS breakfast in bed at our house, on special days. This tradition started on my side of the family, and I loved it so much, that I carried it right over to my little family.

For some reason, there's just nothing that says "I feel important today", quite like eating your favorite breakfast on a plain ol' paper plate and dish towel-covered-cookie sheet. ha!

And Second... The Balloon Fairy.

Yup, you read that right. The Balloon Fairy. This is a tradition that we started on our own.

During the sleep of your 'birthday-eve' the Balloon Fairy comes to visit and leaves gobs of balloons in your favorite colors, ALL OVER your room!

I'm not quite sure how we thought up this idea, but I can't tell you how fun it is to hear that first gasp and ecstatic squeal of an excited birthday girl, once she wakes up and sees that she is surrounded by a sea of balloons. Cason and I never fail to give each other a little hand squeeze or high five, once we hear the pitter-patter of little feet running into our room, ready to burst out into the story of how the "Balloon Fairy" came to visit during the night.

I guess I just wanted to share those few things to show you that there are still small, fun moments and memories that even the busiest Mom can make, on their kiddos special day!

(without spending hardly any money or throwing an elaborate party)
