I thought I'd drop in to let you know what we've been up to lately.
Well, at least that's what this funny girl, below tells everybody.
Yes, "we all got's new glasses". Everyone except for Cason...
As he states, "His eyes are perfect" and I'm the one to blame for the blindness, in this crazy gaggle of girls.
ugh. ya, it's sad, but true. lol
Thank goodness for killer eye insurance, because 3 kids, 1 Mom, 2 trips to the eye doctor and lots of $,$$$ later (yes, there's a comma in those dollar signs)... we no longer have ANY "flex" in our "spending". ehhmmm.
Well, maybe I should say LAWN work.
After last years headache with grass, sprinklers, patios and curbing... Cason threw his hands up in the air and told me that if I wanted a pretty green lawn and a well maintained yard this year, it was up to ME!
So after some bartering (he now does ALL the houses DEEP cleaning, and ironically LOVES it) I took this challenge on, head first.
2 bags of weed & feed, 3 bags of Ironite and 1 SUPER sore Mom, later.
I'm happy to report that these past two months have been green, lush, and weed free!
Not to mention, I'm pretty sure that I lose about 5 pounds worth of body weight from the enormous amounts of sweat I shed mowing each Saturday. whew! This keepin'-up-a-big-yard stuff ain't for weaklings!
I'm getting excited also, because now that my boring ol' flower beds are weed free, I'm sending over these pictures to my amazing sister in law, who specializes in yard design! She's going to "pimp this yard out!"
More to come later...
I know. I failed miserably at Spring decorating this year. But Summer?
Well, I've been workin'!!!
Can't wait to show you all the things I've done around here!
It's slow, but steady.
The master bathroom got a wall full of molding today.
Now comes the awful fun part. LOTS of nail holes to fill, cracks to caulk, and painting to do.
As you can see, we aren't short of places to spend our money or projects to work on, around here.
We definitely have things this summer to keep us busy...
.
.
.
Not to mention the occasional "trip" to Grandma's Instacare:
All I have to say is:
wearing swim goggles on your eyes, running at the pool, while wrapped up like a mummy in a towel...
is probably NOT the best idea.
Although, it's those (now shattered) goggles on those little peepers that probably saved this kiddo from a more sever head injury, then 15 little stitches.
jeesh.
Here's hoping that YOUR Summer is being filled with
lots of eventful (yet a bit safer) happenings too!
:)
Hey! Boys like to make passes at girls who wear glasses! Nothing wrong with that at all.. well in 20 years or so at least!
ReplyDeletePhew! Busy busy! Cute glasses!!! Bathroom looks fab and so does the yard. I had to laugh though that you do the yard work and Cason does the housework! Love you two! And finally...your poor baby! Hope she is feeling better!
ReplyDeleteHello cute rug! You always have the cutest rugs. Please share where you found this one. Love it and love your blog!
ReplyDeleteWe are trailing you....just did our annual trip to the ER last week, too! Son accidentally clubbed sister with the golf club - never saw a head swell so much in my life!! Glasses are now rubber as my son just can't keep them from shattering, yardwork has been better at keeping up with, and we're trying to keep from doing too much and enjoy summer!

Your girls are SO cute! Love the summer decor and pretty much everything in this post, ha! Except for the 15 stitches! ..Ouch. :(
ReplyDeleteI'm already loving the bright, clean colors in the teaser pics of your decorating. Can't wait to see more!
ReplyDeleteWow. Lots going on Shelley! Can't wait to see you tomorrow and catch up for a bit...
ReplyDeleteIn the meantime, how come we didn't see your glasses?
um could your blog be any cuter? I LOVE it all/ your blog design ROCKS!!!!
ReplyDeleteOhhh! Poor babe! I hope she's healing well! We must know. Did you buy or paint the new rug?!
ReplyDeleteI understand your frustration with lawns. I have always had a company come and spray my yard and after last year we quit. Way to many sales calls and my hubby and I realized we can do this for way less. So 2011 brings our lawn looking HORRIBLE, weeds galore, dead spots, thin spots, yellow spots, ugh. I have been doing the 3 step program and it is finally starting to look better. We have had so much rain. Be patient, it will get there :) Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures. Glad your little one wasn't hurt any worse.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you all have been super busy! Can't wait to hear more about all of your house projects! :) And poor little baby cutting her eyes. That had to be so scary for all of you!
ReplyDeleteThey look so cute in their glasses! And poor girl! 15 stitches! I am glad she is okay.
ReplyDeleteThe yard looks great too. Your awesome!
Well they sure are cuties in glasses, even though they are blind, ha!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you've been up too!
Ouch! Poor thing! Well thank the Lord for having those goggles on to save her pretty little eyes!

Your children look adorable in glasses! Can I just tell you that you have probably the best husband in the world!!! Not only is he great for fixing up the house (probably without being pushed), and then you taking pictures of him and he is even smiling! LUCKY YOU!! Hope she heals quickly! Poor little girly.
ReplyDeleteOh my poor Aubrie! Abby just pulled her bookshelf down on herself this morning and gave me a heart attack. Thankfully it is small, not too heavy and didn't have anything in since she pulled all the books off but it scared me to death!! I love your rug by the way. So cute!
ReplyDeleteLove this post...I'm a glasses girl myself. Your girls are the cutest and I am so glad little one didn't get hurt more seriously. I can imagine how scary it was...those eye area injuries bleed! And kudos for getting your hubs to be so handy. : ) Your pictures are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the post on the mummy wrap we were on a mini vacation this weekend when my hubby did the mummy wrap. I'll let him know what can happen. Even though we teach our children not to run at the pool they always run.
ReplyDeleteOh poor baby!!! She is so brave! I don't usually comment on blogs, but my son had a similar situation a year and a half ago. He had fallen off a chair at two years old and had to get 11 stitches in his cheek. It was a Sunday so we had to put our trust in the ER doctor. The following day I contacted the best plastic surgeon in town to make sure the stitches were done correctly (since it was his face). He didn't care for the type of stitches but said it would suffice. The best advice he gave me was instead of Mederma cream for the scar (about 2-3 weeks after stitches came out) was to use a product called Scarguard MD. It smells funky, but you paint it on (it looks like nail polish), and it dries as a silicone barrier. It shrinks and diminishes scars. It's cool as it peels of rather than wiping off like a cream. I found it at Target. We used it for many months. Geez, I sound like a commercial! Just wanted to be helpful ;0) Hope she feels better soon!
ReplyDeleteWow you've been busy. My 5yo shut her thumb in a door 2 months ago and had 9 stitches to re-attach the tip of her thumb. Not fun. Have you seen Zennioptical.com? Very cheap glasses. Just to have extras, since kids are kids. I mostly wear contacts but get my backup glasses there. I also got DS' reading glasses there.
ReplyDeleteLove the glasses! My oldest just got glasses this year too. She's also the one that needed stitches from tripping and hitting her head on a radiator when she was 18 months old. Use lots of mederma and when it heals sun block to reduce the scarring. Hope she heals up quickly!
ReplyDeleteOh man! We went through the same thing exactly 1 year ago. My 5 yr old daughter got 9 stitches above her right eye! Keep lots of sunscreen on the scar this summer and it will look a lot better in a year!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see how you "summerized" your home! I'm drooling over the rug...mind sharing where you got it????
That poor baby {and poor Mom}! I'm so sorry about the stitches!
ReplyDeleteaww the glasses look great! I can't even find good looking glasses for myself! Oh my, those stitches! They make me cringe, but looks like she handled it well!
ReplyDeleteOh! That's gonna be a shiner! (You should take advantage and do a "boxing" photo shoot! http://s3.hubimg.com/u/3276342_f248.jpg how cuuute would your girls be!? Ah I die!)
ReplyDeleteI used to always fall on my face as a kid. I don't think I ever used my hands to catch myself, only my nose.(So many scars!) My parents would always say "hey, if you ever get lost or run away.. you'll always have plenty of identifying marks for the police to find you with!"
The girl still looks happy though, despite the fall! So, if I were her, I'd tell people I got bit by a shark or fell off my motorcycle. Hard core playtime! Yeah!
Oh that poor little girly. She looks like a brave one though!

Thank heaven for goggles!
ReplyDeleteWow, Shell! I'm so impressed that you mow the lawn! I do the beds, and Kyle does the lawn here.
I just bought that rug at Lowe's on their clearance rack this past weekend!! I love it - it goes perfect in my craft room!!
ReplyDeleteI love you girly girls in your glasses. They look like little clones of you.....you are all so cute. I really like your blog. I really do. My goodness that boo boo looks so awful. Ouch. Looks like they did a great job of stitching. Hope the rest of the summer goes well.
ReplyDeleteThis is random, but what is the silhouette blog you've posted about (I think)? I used to have it on my google reader, but now I don't, and would love it again. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteOh dear! No matter how much you tell them not to run around the pool, they do. Summer is exciting! Perhaps a little terry cloth robe would help?
ReplyDeleteMinus the trip to the ER (knock on wood)...my summer has been just as busy!! Lots of projects and not enough time (or money)...lol
ReplyDeleteyour yard is looking great. can't wait to see what your SIL does to pimp it out. ouch that looks painful. it made my face hurt.
ReplyDeleteabsolutely love the colours in your summertime look!!
ReplyDeleteyour girls are gorgeous and I love their glasses! we are pretty sure we are going to be buying glasses for our daughter in the next year, I hope I can find some as cute as those.
and your poor baby, I hope she is feeling better soon!!
So, sure, I've never met you in REAL LIFE, but I do like to stalk your blog once in a while, because SWEET MERCY! You do the neatest things! And because low! I did not get a rung on my DNA ladder that said GOOD AT CRAFTING PROJECTS, so I'm always thinking wow! She is so talented! Plus...I've decided that you have THE CUTEST GIRLS of all time, and I think you should just go ahead and gather up your donkeys and your oxen and your gold...you know, get your dowry together, because I'm sure we could work out an arranged marriage with our ten-year-old boy! :o) (Of course, he can't get married until he's 35, so your girls will have to wait!) Your blog is wonderful; thanks for sharing it.
ReplyDeleteId love to know where you purchased that great rug! Perfect colors for my house.
ReplyDeleteWow - you are busy!! I'm so sorry had to go to the ER. Poor girl!! And the girls look great in their glasses!!!
ReplyDeleteI love your rug!

ReplyDeletethat's a lot of cute glasses!!poor baby, that's why they're always yelling WALK at the pool!
ReplyDeletecan't wait to see your summer decorating!
OH!!! Poor baby! Kids are so amazing and resilient! She smiles so beautifully with all the "ouchies" on her face! :( AND the girls look GORGEOUS in their glasses! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks to the previous comment, I found the cute rug at Lowe's. It was marked down from $29.99 to $7.50. There are 3 other designs that are marked down as well - an animal print, a pink floral w/brown background and a tropical floral print. Great price for the size - 30"x50". You may have to search a little - they were sitting in a display box on one of the aisles. Thanks for sharing it with us Shelley!
ReplyDeleteJust have zennioptical.com Life saver in the glasses department!!
