Baby Hungry, Woombie Giveaway and Life

thank you for entering, this giveaway is now closed
{Baby Hungry, Life Changes & Woombie Giveaway}

Alright... so that title was a bit... okay, a LOT misleading. lol.
And if you're reading this Mom, NO, I'm not thinking about having more kids. ha!

I've just been going through this weird "feeling" lately.  And I'm sure that some of you know it.
That... "I'm no longer a baby-makin'-Mommy" anymore... but a,
"I have kids in school now, Mommy"... stage of life.
It's a very strange transition.  All of a sudden, you don't have as many things in common with your " still-baby-makin' friends" as you did before.

For ME, it was really hard having 3 babies all at once.

I felt like I was forever going to be the Mom with "all these babies", who always looked strung out, and disheveled and who would permanently have a diaper bag attached to her shoulder!
I even joked, at one point with Cason that I thought wheeling around a carry-on sized suitcase would be easier then hauling around that freakin' diaper bag that weighed about 50 lbs!

FIY:  If you plan on having twins, and then a newborn, only about 19 months later... please know that instead of having the cute tiny boutique wipe container... you'll need to upgrade to the big-daddy-beauty.
Take my word for it... You'll thank me later :)

Believe me.  I wouldn't have had it any other way.  I can't tell you HOW lucky I am to have all of these adorable girls close in age.

They are the very best of friends, they get along SO well, and it's been really fun to watch them all experience life together!  From potty training to the first day of school and making new friends... The list goes on.
I would't trade it for the WORLD!
But I have to tell you, now that I'm in the "Kid's go to School, Mom" mode, I seem to cherish those little ones even more!  Maybe that's why being a grandparent is so much fun!?
I recently had the opportunity to spend a weekend with my sister and adorable niece and felt like I couldn't drink in enough of her!

The sweet smell of baby skin, the big smiles, and the mindless baby chatter...
It made me long for my "babies" at home! (yes, they will ALWAYS be my babies, lol)

While watching my sister I was so impressed by all the knowledge that she had!
How prepared she seemed to be!  Making her own baby food, teaching Abigail basic sign language...
What!?
There were SO many things that I didn't know, before I had my babies!  I was still a newly married 23 year old with 3 little lives and a hard working husband to take care of, now!
Wam-Bam-Thank-you-Maim! ha!
But...
Now that I'm the oh-so-mature, age of 28, (rolling my eyes... lol)
I can look back and see all of the AWESOME things that Cason and I DID learn!  Like:
* How to stay with a routine.
* Why consistency REALLY IS key!
* How to start teaching our kids logical reason
* How and When to discipline
* How to work as a team and as a Family unit
* And most importantly, how to continually improve our communication skills and crazy-over-the-top love for each other, through this hectic new life, full of kids, work, and busy schedules!

Please tell me I'm not alone on this one.

So, this being said...
I'm here to admit.  I'm baby hungry.
Not like...
"I want to HAVE another little one,"
baby hungry...
just more...
"I want to cuddle, swaddle, rock and kiss YOUR baby"
... kinda hungry :)

Do other Mom's who KNOW that they are done having kids, ever get this way too?
It's natural right?

That being said, I'm continually in aw, of all of these fabulous new
"We can make the little things, easier..." baby products that have come out, in the past few years.
Something that wasn't around when I had babies, that I think is just fabulous is...

Have you heard of this!?
Woombie
I don't know about you, but MY babies HAD to be swaddled to sleep.
ALL of them.
The tighter and more secure that they felt, the better they slept!
We were masters at the swaddle, Cason and I  :)

But here was the problem...
The SECOND you picked that baby up, to cuddle and love it, you had to deal with something that looked like this...

Blanket in baby's face, and all-up in the way! lol
So annoying.

So check THESE out!
An ADORABLE solution, right!?
Honestly, this little contraption could have made my life SO much easier.
And I'm loving that they have convertible Woombie's as well!
So you can buckle your baby in a car seat, WHILE they are snuggly and warm :)
Can't do THAT with a bulky blanket.

There are some really adorable styles to choose from too:

Even though MY babies aren't... "babies" anymore, I can think of about 10 friends and a few sisters who would love one of these for their tiny ones.

And lucky you!, Woombie is offering House of Smiths readers a chance to
win a free Wommbie of their own!
All you have to do is leave a comment here on this post, letting me know that you would be interested in trying out one of these fabulous new,
SAFE-cuddling cocoons!
Speaking of safe, check out all the amazing
benifits that Woombie offers, vs. a regular blanket.

Also, through May 5th, Woombie is offering a discount of 10% with the code: SweetDreams, on any purchase!
Good luck entering ladies... and remember,
If you ever need anyone to cuddle and love on, that sweet new baby of yours... gimmie a call.
:)

  15. So I don't need a wombie, but I totally related to your post today! I am struggeling daily with leaving the "baby making phase" and entering the "baby raising phase". My youngest is 2 and I am TOTALLY craving someone elses infant baby to snuggle and smooch and spoil. I miss that so much it makes my heart hurt. I do not, however, need anything else hurting with the work of adding a 5th child, so we will be happy at four. Your pictures today just about killed me though. :) My neighbor that used to live across the street just had their first baby yesterday. I can't wait for her to come visit!

  16. My baby is 23 and newly married so, believe me, the baby paraphanalia has come a long way in that many years. As for the baby hunger ... wait until you are contemplating grandchildren .... whoooo boy.

  18. I would love to have one of these, I'm an expert swaddler with my friends kids so I know the benefits of swadding. We are starting our adoption journey and I have fait that any day the phone will ring letting us know someone is interested in placing their child in our home. I would love to have a Woombie to make those nights as a first time mom even sweeter!

  21. I am know in this mode to. I have three: 8, 6, and 3 and we're done. I recently told my friend while watching the Baby Story on TLC that when your in the still having babies mode you watch and think "oh, that is amazing, I want one" and then you know your done having kids when you watch and think "oh, that poor lady, she has no idea what she's in for. staying up all hours, smelling like through up." TOO funny. My little sister recently had a baby and I LOVE him! Cuddle and kiss, smell and love him. The second he gets fussy or needs a diaper change I can give him back and he goes home. Love that even more.

Thanks for letting me know that feeling the way I do about not having anymore is normal. I too feel like the older mother in the ward that all the young moms can ask for advice. Awesome stage!

  129. Goodness can you say BUSY!!! You are wonder woman, dealing with those three babies all at once. I wanted to die today just taking my two boys to Costco. If you're missing this, maybe you should read this post I just wrote: http://www.honeybearlane.com/2011/04/help-my-three-year-old-is.html

I love those woombies, I haven't seen them before. I always used those swaddlers--the baby straight jackets. It would be fun to try it out!

  135. My 1 month old baby would defenately sleep better with this thing!

    ReplyDelete
  136. I saw these about the time that Abby was ready to stopped being swaddled. I am for SURE getting one for our next baby. Swaddling was the ONLY way Abby would sleep at night and she went from not sleeping to sleeping 7 hours at a time in just one night after we figured it out. Oh and sis...you can come swaddle my girl any time. ;-) Love ya!

  137. What a FANTABULOUS idea! who wouldda thought of that! Not me..thats for sure. I would love to try this out, that is such an awesome idea, my babies love to be swaddled too, but like you said, the blankets are a pain in the butt!

    ReplyDelete
  138. I feel you and your pain. I am the mom of three. My two and three are twins. I had them about 3 years after my first. They are turning 8 next week. And I am baby hungry. My husband and I became swaddling pros when our first had acid reflux and then just trying to keep two asleep at the same time. My baby sister had her first last week and I would love to give this to her, or keep if for myself if I can convince my husband he is baby hungry too.
