Master Bathroom Wood Planked Walls

Slow & Steady...

I'm almost hesitant to share this post, being that nothing in our bathroom actually got accomplished that was pretty, nor really "finished". lol.

But here it is...

On Saturday, Cason decided to finish planking up the last wall around the tub.

Yes.  That's all we had left, and it took us about 3 months to finish that spot. ha!

Once Cason finished that, I whipped out my Dad's circular sander.

That thing has some KICK to it!...

And got busy

I KNEW that this thing was going to create some "dust"...

but holy COW!  There was sawdust on EVERY surface and in EVER crevasse that the bathroom and I had!

These pictures were taken only after one side of the tub surround was sanded down.

It got way worse.  Basically to the point that I didn't dare take my precious camera in there. LOL

 I had to stuff a towel under the door in our bedroom, and in front of the vent in our bathroom, to help keep the dust down, in the rest of our house.

At one point I stepped out of the bathroom to breathe some "clean air" and when I went back into the bathroom, I noticed I had left footprints.

ha, awesome! 

So ya, it was a dirty job, but I'm glad that part is done!

So... this is where the "not so exciting" part comes in.

All that this sanding really did, was just this...

If you notice, the boards are just smoother, and rounded a bit at the edges, instead of hard and straight... like how they come, when you buy them.

It's hard to tell in a photo, but it really does make a HUGE difference.

I'm glad I took the time to do it.

This is basically where we are, now.

Walls all boarded up and sanded smooth.

Still looking for the "perfect" lighting fixture,

and using an old white sheet as a window covering... lol

Next is filling all these little holes.

We've already set them... (made sure none of the nails were poking out) now they are just ready for some putty.

I like the knots and imperfections that the boards have, so those will stay, to peek through the white paint, but the man made nail holes, just gotta go.

 We've been working on finishing touches for the living room as well, and it's really starting to come together too!
