Happiness Is...

{Happiness in the Simple & Little Things}

Today I first found happiness in a full bowl of these yummy, sweet, fresh tomatoes that my Mom brought me on her way to work, from my Dad's garden...

She also dropped off about 20 boxes of Life and Quaker Oats cereal. hee hee.
Me = Happy
at a $1.00 a box, how can you NOT!?!?...now where to put it all??? LOL LOL.
Cason came home with some more "Crows Bones"
Me = Happy

... Somebody keeps eating those nasty things...
I have Homework... lol.
Okay... not really, but the girls's preschool teacher needs help cutting out Grandma's and Grandpas.
So I grabbed a stack, complete with little plastic baggy to put them in when done.
I feel like I'm 6 years old again, and I'm actually kinda EXCITED to do this.
Remember when Homework was kinda fun?... ya, it was a LOOOONG time ago, for me. LOL
I'm sure that it will only take ONCE of me having to sit there and cut out these silly people, to ask myself why I even took them in the first place... but it's new, and different...
and so therefore...
Me = Happy

Freshly washed new sheets that I won from Holly's blog, from Serena and Lily.
Me = Happy
Ya, on this note.......... can I just say... "Ooooh Baaaaby...."
First of all... these sheets rock my world, because they are lookin' oh so fabulous with my green ensemble, here... lol
secondly... I'm embarrassed to say, but previously we've only owned TWO pairs of sheets for our bed.
(am I alone here?  I just never feel like sheets are top on my priority list)
The ONE pair that we like... is basically SEE THROUGH, because we wash and use them so much
... and our "standby pair" are these ... thicker than ever jersey knit sheets I got on sale at Walmart...........
.
.
.
ugh.
I dunno about you, but have you ever tried to get "Jiggy in Jersey???"
if you know what I mean...
... MAN ALIVE those babies just don't breath!  blahhhhhhhhk!
You better believe it's over before it's even started, if I break a sweat just trying to get to the other end of the bed to meet you!
Okay... enough on that...

MOVING ON>>>>
.
.
.
Lastly...
Spending some quality time with these little Smith chicks today, no shower, completely clean house, thanks to my amazing hubby...
and vinyl orders up to my ears...
Me = Happy AND Blessed
I hope that everyone can find some "Happy" in the little and simple things this weekend :)
Sometimes, for me, it's all about just taking time to stop and enjoy the small pleasures in life, to realize how great I've really got it  :)
HAPPY WEEKEND!

  3. That was so hilarious, I had my husband read it! {he wanted to know why I was laughing so stinking hard}. You always make me smile, and I totally agree with you about simple things bringing us the most happiness. Like today, I bottled tomatoes from my OWN garden, definitely a simply happy thing.

  6. Look at your cute cups for your girls! Those are from Ikea, yes? I adore the new sheets and it's going to take everything I've got to not go buy a couple sets for myself.

    Love your blog. As always.

  8. LOL!!! Jiggy in Jersey just doesn't happen! I hate buying sheets too - I brave the Thanksgiving sales and have gotten some yummy high thread count delights at Target for cheap!!

  9. Jiggy in Jersey??? Oh my gosh I just spit out some Diet Coke! You are hilarious, girl!!!

  10. Being happy is very good :oD

    And yes, we only have 2 sets of sheets in this house as well. We have one set of icky brown and one set of pretty blue. The blue is fading fast from the washing. :oP And since we use a duvet and duvet cover from IKEA in the winter, the top sheet is not as faded as the mattress and pillow sheets... So, yeah... it's starting to look odd. The sad thing? I LOVE BEDDING! But... I can't justify buying any until we've at least painted the walls and ceiling in the house.

    To me, bedding is like shoes is to most other women. You can never have enough.

    See, bedding doesn't judge the fact that I have size 10-11 feet or that they are really flat. Bedding just accepts them as they are, and wraps around my feet in soft, blissful heaven.

    Aaaaanyway... The girls look adorable! And great hubby who cleaned the house! Send him this way, PLEASE. ;o)

  11. we only have 1 pair of sheets!! and I've been saying the same thing...why are they such a low place on my priority list! we use them EVERYDAY! (but then I say, but it only takes me 90 mins to wash/dry and get back on bed)

    Can you share more info or post a link to the cool October Vinyl you've got in the back of the picture (behind your cuties) on the shelf? I'm off to search your archives but wondering if its a Halloween decoration or something with all the months you swap out?

  17. Haha we only have two sets of sheets too. The set we like and a set of jersey sheets...and I totally agree with the, umm, "jiggy" part. No good.

  18. I always have a better day when I read your blog Shelley :) You are one lucky lady with 3 girls and a man who know what a damask print is, lol! Now you just have to add a cute little boy heehee.

  19. I literally laughed out loud with your "getting jiggy in jersey sheets"....HAHA!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Oh, and I also meant to add that you are not alone with only owning two sets of sheets. We are the same way!

    ReplyDelete
  21. I love love love your green comforter! YUM! And I am one that only has two sets of sheets for our bed. LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  22. You are a nut, and so stinkin' cute :) thanks for the reminder, totally needed that one today.
    And the sheets...1 more reason I love ya! lol.. Right there w/ ya!

    ReplyDelete
  23. two sets of sheets...why? with only one you never have to fold those suckers. and jiggy in jersey...many years ago i was a jersey girl...just too young to get jiggy...dang...i would love using that little phrase now that i'm old enough! and lastly, holy stinkin cannoli...where did you get that lucious green damask bedding? i want to know. now!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Uhh....regarding the sheet 'situation' I am right there with ya! For the many years we owned a queen I only had 2 sets and now with our king I only own 2 sets. Reason: #1 one of my sets is PB matching my bedding and can't bear to shell out the extra $ for a second set. Can't do it! #2 Do you really need more than 2? One on the bed, one in the linen closet. I never understood people like my mom who has 16 sets of full size sheets. Really?? Simplify already!

  25. Two sheets here:o) That goes for my kids' beds as well:o) Would love to know where your quilt came from...LOVE it!

  26. I love clean sheets. We love Quaker Oats at our house too. Glad to know you are so HAPPY!

  27. Ohhh those sheets do look fabulous!! So glad you got you some new sheets!!! Sorry it took so long!! Hopefully they were worth the wait!!

    And for everyone saying "high thread count" yes the thread count does matter, but what matters more is that the THREAD they are using is high end... Long fibers, as in prima cotton, egyptian cotton, and the like... so don't get fooled with high thread count, also look to see what that thread is... they could use 500 thread count of jute and say 500 thread count but it would not be too soft! So beware!
