Wasn't it just Christmas!?
...ya, that's what I thought.
Oh well, guess you can't fight...
"That lovin' feeeeelin'... Woahh, that looovin' feelin'"
Okay...
I've had a couple of emails asking about Valentines decorating ideas and vinyl and such, so here's MY take on this LOVE-ly holiday :)Can you tell Valentines is one of my most favorites!?
This year I wanted to do a little project that was more... personal, in our decor.
Cason and I were told a few weeks back by my friend Tauni someone (eehem) that we remind her of a giddy, lovesick, high school couple. LOL.
At first I was like... "WHAT? No way!"
.
.
.
Then I assessed the situation:
* Matching cell phone covers, in different colors, with pictures of
* Giggling, play-hitting, & pretending to be mad at each other
.
.
.
dang it.
Okay, okay...so what!?
Maybe we act like we're still dating, sometimes... lol
I guess this explains my Valentines Subway art, this year.
We both love the song by Katy Perry... "Not like the Movies"
It's got amazing lyrics!
The kind that give you chills, and make you start envisioning a full blown music video of you and your past boyfriends in your head, with your hubby as the "knight in shinning armor, with a great tan, and fabulous hair," at the end...
...
No?
You don't "make up" music videos in your head to songs you love?
hmm...
Aaaanyway....
It's a great song. I've attached it, so you can all listen, if you want.
So ya, it's definitely what inspired my choice of words, this Valentines Day :)
I also added a few other elements that I thought would be fun to incorporate.
The #14 on this cute pink plate, I found at Tai Pan, for only $2.97.
Some fun pink, white, and red candy, in these apothecary jars.
Nothin' really new, I know, but I just love all the color that candy, in a glass jar, can bring!
On the top shelf I put a birdcage, that I found from the DI for $1.00
and some of my Rose Ball Forms, from last year.
I also thought it would be fun to mix in that "nature/bird" feel this year.
I love the phrase "love birds" and wanted to do something fun to show that off :)
So I did this vinyl on my little chippy window, I have hanging up, and used some topiaries on each side.
Pretty simple and PINK (as Cason put it) this year. ha!
I love it! :)
.
.
.
Oh! Also, did you read Jen's post on HER
HUGE Valentines subway art!?
Well, it was a good one, and I helped her do the vinyl for it!
The whole time while we were crafting together, all I could think of
was that old cartoon, Captain Planet, and the theme song... remember?
"When YOUR powers combine... WE ARE!....."
LOL.
Please tell me someone remembers that show. ha!
K, anyway... Look how awesome HER subway art turned out!
La-la-la LOVE it!
Can you feel all the love goin' on around here!?
GOOD! :)
Of course, all of these vinyl decals will be on my Wonderfully Wordy site, to purchase.
So you can go visit over there to see prices, and such.
How are YOU planning on decorating this Valentines Day?
Well, whatever you do, make sure that you stop by, over at Beth's
from The Stories of A to Z, to link up your awesome Valentines decor, on Monday the 24th!
There will be LOTS of inspiration going on there! :)
Okay, you fabulous people... get decorating! :)
I saw your awesome shelves at Christmastime and knew I had to have some. My hubby is building me some to put above the buffet in our breakfast room. Thanks so much for the great ideas!

I love seeing your shelves all dolled up! The love birds window is my favorite part.
ReplyDeleteLove it all! Those Love Birds are FAB-U-LOUS! And I totally remember and know Captain Planet! haha
ReplyDeleteI have just been looking for a good Valentine silouette for the last hour! Didn't find what I was looking for, finally landed on lovebirds! I love this song. I hadn't heard this one before. Great vignette and you two are sounding like the perfect love birds!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes make up videos or hang motions!
ReplyDeleteAb.so.lutely FABULOUS! Oh and I say good for you on the wonderful relationship with the hubs!
ReplyDeleteLove it all! Thanks for the inspiration. :)

LOVE the subway art and rose balls. Beautiful! I will need to try and make these myself.
ReplyDeleteLove it! Love all around! And I'm listening to the song right now and you're right. Awesome lyrics. The only thing that would make this experience better is if I could eat some of those pretzels :).
ReplyDeleteMy first time over here (yes, I should have visited sooner) and I absolutely love this post! Though I haven't a crafty bone in my body--well, maybe my pinky finger does--I do enjoy seeing what you gals create, especially for the holidays. And the part about you two being all twitterpated (a play on your bird theme!) is super cute! Now, can you come over and decorate my home for Valentine's Day? ;)
ReplyDeleteI love that bird cage! I never find stuff like that at thrift stores, you lucky lady, you.
ReplyDeleteAlso, those little trees are lovely.
Love your vignette!! it is absolutely perfect!!!
ReplyDeleteSo clever! You never disappoint. I can't wait to get to decorating now.
ReplyDeleteHow cute is your display :)
ReplyDeleteI love it!
Absolutely marvelous!
ReplyDeleteI saw you back in December at the Pier 1 blogger party thingy (um, yes that was the technical name, right?? ha!) in Draper but you were busy and I was too shy to come and say hi. You looked fabulous though!
Shelley I am always in awe of your shelves and how they look each holiday/season. I know you posted it at one point, but I can't seem to figure out when...how long are your shelves? I thought they were 4' & 3' which I had my hubby pick up, but mine look so much longer than your pictures and i am afraid I won't be able to fill them...too much is not good, but too little is just as bad. can you help me out with the length? Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI don't make up music videos about my hubs, but do picture us when watching certain movies or reading books as the leading romantic characters...unfortuneatly when the movie/book is over I am smacked out of make believe world, but it was great while it lasted...and I love him just the way he is (a girl can dream though...right?)
I love it! And, thanks for the laugh...of course now I'll have those songs in my head all day!!
ReplyDeleteIt really great but I expected nothing more! Can't wait to see what you do next!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing what you put on those shelves each holiday. Beautiful! The birds are my favorite. Way to go!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit, I don't decorate for Valentine's Day. It's really not a big deal in our house - but maybe it SHOULD be! Hmmmm, I need to re-think the whole "you don't need to get me a gift or even a card" thing!
ReplyDeleteLove your V-Day decorating, and both piece of subway art look great! I love word-related art :-)
I love everything, but the window is the BEST!
ReplyDeletegreat job.
gail
I love how you have a corner that you decorate for each holiday. I think this one is so darn cute! Also LOVE the subway art. I think it would be fun to have one with words that mean something to me and my husband. As always love reading your blog!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I LOVE the love birds!
ReplyDeleteOh man, I freaking love all of your holiday decorations... This is gorgeous. Makes me want to start decorating for Valentine's day too!
ReplyDeleteLove it!
Shelley, you totally make me giggle! Which is kind of hilarious in itself when I read your posts via email in bed. Ha! I do love your Valentine's Vignette though...very stylish!

ReplyDeleteOH MY..... I *heart* it ALL. I am totally going with the lovebird theme this year, too! Thanks so much for the inspiration!!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, and so totally sweet, I'm still listening to that song as I type this:) I'm soooo glad I follow your blog now:)

Hahaha, I loved Captain Planet!!! and I LOVE your decor! :)
ReplyDelete"Captain Planet!" Love your natural take on Valentine's Day. (^o^)
ReplyDeleteWow I absolutely LOVE your setup. What is the font for your Love Birds artwork? It's beautiful!! Got my mind brewing... thanks for sharing! You are such an inspiration!
ReplyDeleteLove it.. Love it! Everything you do is amazing... I have a total crush on your pantry and want to do a pantry makeover this year thanks to you!
ReplyDeleteQuick question: Where's the best place(s) to get all the fun, colorful candies/goodies for the glass jars. Do you buy it in bulk usually or just packages?
I love, love, love that birdie window!!! So cute!!! I'm not really decorating this year... We're living with family now, but hoping to have my own house soon so I can really decorate. :)
ReplyDeletethat looks really cute and fun! I haven't given Valentine's Day one second of thought...now I'm hooked...thanks!
ReplyDeleteAdorable as ever!
ReplyDeleteI have been *patiently* waiting to see how you would decorate you shelves for vday! Well, the wait was worth it! Loving all of it!
ReplyDeleteThe love birds theme is genius!!
ReplyDeleteAlso.....I feel the same way about my husband too!!!!!!!
You guys are so cute! By the way your living room is to.die.for.

http://abeautifulcottagehome.blogspot.com/2011/01/presenting-giveaway-to-celebrate-new.html
Super cute! I have been staring at my blank mantle it needs a little "love too" My favorite love song is Marry me by train. Love it so much it inspired me to have a surprise wedding for my husband. It is not like he can say no we have been married 11 years :-)
ReplyDeleteI love the way you decorated the shelves! The love bird decal is so cute!
ReplyDeleteI love this! I am going to copy your love birds window immediately! (Except I need to hand paint it and have to use an old mirror I have laying around.....) Gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteAnd congrats on having that kind of a marriage! (I'm married to my best friend too. We're blessed.)
You guys are so darn cute!! Love that song, and love your shelves..I may need to look at the shelves tutorial since my wall that had the huge mirror w/ the vinyl broke!! :(
ReplyDeleteit looks so good...from the love birds (which i absolutely adore) to the small nature-y feel of the rose ball swag. beautiful!
ReplyDeleteTotally gorgeous as always!!! The birdie window is amazing {as is your subway art!}! Those chocolate covered pretzels would not be lasting at my house though!
ReplyDeleteCan I be you when I grow up?!? Sheesh lady! You never cease to amaze me! Super cute ideas!!
ReplyDelete#1-Love it!
ReplyDelete#2-I haven't ever cut those cute "circus-ee" fonts out of vinyl, 'cause I was scared they would be way to detailed. Hmmm....I may have to re-think.
#3-The background pattern of Jen's subway art and I are IN LOVE. We're working on coming up with "our song" right now. I'm pretty sure it will be something from "Poison" or "Warrant" but I'll have to get back to you.
#4-yes. I do make up music videos in my head. But they're probably more like Britney videos. And I'd be embarrassed to even admit. But I just did. So why not throw it out there that they sometimes are acted out during a long shower.
What?
Too much?
Shoot.
I absolutely love all your Valentine's Day decor, especially the birds on a branch in the old window pane! Keep posting your great ideas! My husband is very helpful, but do you know how lucky you are to get so much help from yours!
ReplyDeleteWow- as always you amaze me! I LOVE your love birds window- my fav by far!!! Don't ever be ashamed that you have that relationship with your man- the rest of us are just jealous! :) Thanks for the laughs- your posts are always good for that!
ReplyDeleteLove love love... all of it; must get working on my Valentine decor. I have the same question as Sandee.... do you have a good source for candy for the apothecary jars?
ReplyDeleteOkay, I am seriously in the mood for Valentine's Day decor now! I have been putting it off until now, but I'm finally starting to feel the love.

ReplyDeleteValentine's is not such a big thing here, maybe (and that's MAYBE) your hubby will bring you roses but that's about it :) Mine probably won't and the excuse will be "didn't I just build this and that for you". LOL.
Love. Love.Love. your site. I tweeted your giveway and while I was toggling between sites I caught your post about your daughter's first day of school. When your child is ready for you to "leave" it means you are doing an amazing job. Of course, my middle child, clung to me, crying (me crying) and we decided maybe he wasn't quite ready! Thanks for the giveaway opportunity and crafty inspirations. laura
ReplyDeleteJust darling, Shelley! Gave me a little bit of inspiration to get some Valentine's Decor going on at my place!

ReplyDeleteOk...The more I read your blog the More I feel like I know you! I seriously LOVE your blog and I have a measley little craft blog that I don't so much as do ALL the crafts but post crafts that I find all over the internet and put it in one spot (for me).

Thanks,
Stephanie
Hello there! I didn't want to post my question on the Silhouette giveaway post as I thoght it might get lost among the thousands of comments. :) But, here it is: Can you please tell me where you got your galvanized metal wall organizer that you used to store your magazines in your living room? I saw them in your Silhouette giveaway post when you made numbers to put on each slot and I just knew I had to get some of those for my new office/desk space. Thanks!
