We're THOSE Kinda Neighbors

{When is it okay to...}

Be a total creepy neighbor, part the blinds and take a picture of what's going on in the yard behind yours?

... When you find out that your NEW neighbors, that you don't even KNOW... and pray to the heavens don't read your blog... (because they'll think your a freak)
ARE GETTING THE PRETTIEST STAMPED STONE CEMENT PAD!
Actually... the EXACT design that YOU want!

When is it acceptable...

To go into a slight depression, for a week... after you look down at YOUR yard and see dirty diapers, falling apart stairs, cracked cement, and a "patio pad ready" spot... full of weeds???

LOL... well I don't have an answer to that...
Mostly it's NEVER okay... because if you're acting like that... you're probably not GRATEFUL for the 90% finished yard that you ALREADY HAVE!
ugh.
What is WRONG with me people!
:)

(Even if your grass IS dying from the heat... and your hubby has to mow over .... basically hay textured grass.
hee hee hee
Give us a break... we've been watering till the cows come home... and it's greened up a LOT more, than it was 2 weeks ago.
Needless to say.......Yards... are NOT our specialty area. LOL)

Okay... so that was all a few weeks ago.
.
.
.
Fast forward to this morning.
I'm standing downstairs in my office, while Cason was on the computer, and you can only imagine my surprise when I see 4 men walking in my backyard.

ME:  "CASON!  There's like TEN guys in our back yard!!!!!!!!!"
(Ya... I said ten.....I'm kinda dramatic like that) lol.

CAS: "So."

ME: "What???  Go do something!"

CAS: "Um... Okay... if you don't want cement... I'll tell them to leave!"

ME: "WHAAAAAAAAAT!  Are you serious! Yes!!!!!!!!  I'm so excited!"

(((enter... hugs, kisses... more hugs and a long kiss...)))

CAS: "It's amazing what you can "afford" when the economy sucks, and everyone is in desperate need of work, huh!?"

LOL. YES... finally!  The downward spiral of the economy has worked in OUR favor!
Forget the crappy job we still have...
WE'RE gettin' CEMENT BABY! :)

Granted, it's not the stamped kind I was envying over our fence
(that is almost 3 TIMES the price!) whew!
But at this point, I'm THRILLED with ANYTHING besides weeds!

So now... let me ask you...

When is it okay to...

Have a Bobcat wake up all your kids at 7AM...

Let your kiddo's peek out at the hard working man destroying your rickety stairs...

THEN explain to them what and WHY that hard working man needs his "special drink"
(that he can't put down) lol....

And then watch someone haul away parts of your house... while you... again,
sneak a picture, for your blog, through the blinds in your master bedroom.....
(almost getting caught and having to slam your body on the floor, so the poor workers don't think your COMPLETELY mental?????)
.........

WHEN YOU'RE GETTING CEMENT!

  13. Woohoo! What a great hubbie! I love a good surprise! Btw, in answer to your first question about taking pictures over the fence... I was at my parents house a couple weeks ago and I was getting ready for church and happened to look out the window and see my parents neighbor putting on a SNORKEL MASK to go snorkeling in his (at most!) 2 foot deep man made waterfall pond thingie. I couldn't stop laughing. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera.

I bet though in a month or two you and your new neighbor will be besties and she will be reading your blog and see her backyard and get a big laugh. At least a girl can hope right?! :)

  14. I am so glad that I am not the only one! LOL!! I am so nosey! I have a ton (well, maybe not TON...ok...yes, a ton) of pics like that! I am the self proclaimed captain of my block. Nothing is getting by me!

  15. I know exactly where you are coming from! I went to run errands one morning and came home to find a backyard full of men ripping siding off the back of my house!
The concrete man was supposed to be here the next day to pour the slab but the work crew had a few days between jobs and started on the cover before the concrete was poured. Would have been nice if the contractor had called to tell us they were starting early but it all worked out.
Can't wait to see your finished project!

  16. Congrats on the cement! Our house actually came with a stamped cement patio and was beautifully landscaped. Unfortunately the house didn't come with a book to tell me how to care for the beautiful landscaping. 90% of the landscaping is almost dead now. Oh well. Now I look longingly over at my neighbors who get to have professional landscapers come to their yards to revive the plants.

  28. Tee hee!! We went for 5 years with NO backyard at all. And I'm sure the neighbors had plenty of naughty words to call us. And how freakin' hot was it to be laying cement?? The thought of it makes me want to puke right here!! I'm so happy for you. Those kind of things just make you want to stare at them....and giggle. No wonder you had to peek so much.

(oh, and once my Sister-in-law peeked out the window to check construction progress. Only she got caught. And she wasn't covered up....if you catch my drift...okay....naked on top. Worker was RIGHT THERE!! Bet he had a story to tell that day! funny!)

  35. Loved this post, b/c I have totally been the creepy neighbor girl who spies on the (unfortunately) trashy neighbors as they are finally (!!) moving out. Now I watch the house every day, staring at the "For Sale" sign and praying a nice, non-trashy family moves in.

    Happy Concrete Day!

  36. okay you are so funny, it's kinda like the movie The Burbs where you're spying on your neighbors. Hopefully that worker didn't catch you taking pictures of him, he looks a little scary, and the special drink-too funny.

  38. Cement is very dear to my heart. Just after we built our first house (on a completely barren rock of land) my Nanna passed away and left me some money. We got (Grey stencil stamped )cement and I pretty much thanked my Nanna EVERY single day for that cement. When we sold that house it was the ONLY thing I missed and got sad about leaving. I'm stoked you got cement... that Cason is the best ... you should definitely keep him.
